Fruit hunter assignment! So I went to Whole Foods Market in Mississauga, I chose this place specifically because it's one of the closest places to buy food so I wanted to see what kinds of produce the locals could purchase, including myself. I chose 2 types of pears. First, an asian pear and secondly, the d'anjou pear. I chose these because I dont usually eat pears and these two were different in size, texture, smell, so I decided to do a comparison. Similar to the different kinds of apples we tried in class. There was one other fruit (in the slideshow) called a quince. I did not purchase this because I wasnt too familiar with it and it is best eaten cooked. I'll have another posting later on trying this fruit out. Anyways the taste of the asian pear was slighty sweet and the texture was mealy. It gave a nice crunch when I bit into it . The d'anjou pear was surprisingly bitter and the texture was stiffer, it didnt crunch but it was not soft. I learned with this experience that there are different ways fruit can taste, feel, smell and look like.
